Directions Stove Top Directions: Pick a Protein: 1/2 lb., cut into bite-sized pieces. Smoked sausage. Ham. Cooked chicken. Cooked ground beef or ground sausage. Mix 4-1/2 cups water, rice mix, meat of your choice and 2 tbsp. butter or olive oil in 3-quart saucepan until well blended. Bring to a boil Reduce heat to low. Cover. Simmer 25 minutes or until rice is tender. Stir occasionally to prevent rice and beans from sticking. Enjoy: Remove from heat. Let stand 5 minutes. Fluff with fork before serving. Veggify: Add the trinity (Saute 1/2 cup each chopped onion, chopped celery and chopped bell pepper). Quick & Easy: Use leftover ground taco meat or shredded Rotisserie chicken. Homemade: For homemade flavor add a ham hock or cooked bacon. No rules! Be creative! Enjoy!
