Zatarain's Enriched Parboiled Long Grain Rice starts with long grain rice. The grains are steamed to push the rice's natural nutrients into the grain so they aren't lost in milling as with ordinary long grain rice. The steam takes off sticky surface starch so the grains cook up separate and fluffy, not sticky. Finally, the rice is inspected to provide the highest quality. Measurments: Cooked Rice: 1-1/2 cups: 1/2 cup rice, 1 cup water, 1 tsp butter or margarine 3, optional, 1/4 tsp salt, optional; Cooked Rice: 3-1/2 cups: 1 cup rice, 2 cups water, 2 tsp butter or margarine 3, optional, 1/2 tsp salt, optional; Cooked Rice: 5 cups: 1-1/2 cup rice, 3 cups water, 1 tbsp butter or margarine 3, optional, 3/4 tsp salt, optional; Cooked Rice: 9 cups: 2-1/2 cup rice, 5 cups water, 2 tbsp butter or margarine 3, optional, 1 tsp salt, optional. For better results: For firmer rice, use less water and simmer for a shorter time. For softer, rice, use more water and simmer for a longer time. Do not lift lid during cooking (the steam cooks the rice). To retain vitamins, do not rinse before or drain after cooking. Stove top directions: (1) Bring water to boil in saucepan. Add butter or margarine and salt, if desired. (2) Stir in rice. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer 20 minutes or until rice is tender and most of the water is absorbed. (3) Remove from heat. let stand 5 minutes, Fluff with fork before serving. Microwave Directions: (1) Mix 2-1/2 cups water and 1 cup rice in microwavable bowl. Add 2 tsp. butter or margarine and 1/2 tsp. salt, if desired. Cover. (2) Microwave on high 5 minutes. Stir. Microwave on medium (50% power) 20 minutes or until rice is tender and most of the water is absorbed, stirring occasionally. (3) Let stand in microwave 5 minutes. Fluff with fork before serving. Microwave ovens vary; adjust cooking times are based on an 1100 watt microwave ovens. Caution: Bowl will be very hot. Use pot holders when removing from microwave. Instant Pot Directions: 2 1/2 cup water, 1 1/2 cup Zatarain's Parboiled Long Grain Rice. (1) Add water and rice to Instant Pot. Close lid. Valve to seal. (2) Select pressure cook (manual). Cook 7 minutes on low pressure or until rice is tender. Let stand 5 minutes. Quick release pressure. Open lid once pressure inside pot is completely released. (Checked manufacturer's manual for safe operating directions). Make 4 cups.
