Directions Directions: Servings: 1 Oats: 1/2 cup. Water: 1 cup. Salt (opt): dash. 2 Oats: 1 cup. Water: 1-3/4 cups. Salt (opt): 1/4 tsp. 3 Oats: 1-1/2 cups. Water: 2-1/2 cups. Salt (opt): 1/4 tsp. 6 Oats: 3 cups. Water: 5 cups. Salt (opt): 1/4 tsp. Stovetop: 1 Boil water and salt. 2. Stir in oats. 3. Cook about 5 minutes over medium heat; stir occasionally. Microwave (1 serving): 1. Combine water, salt and oats in a microwaveable bowl. 2. Microwave 2-1/2 to 3 minutes; stir before serving. Warning! Bowl may be hot! Protect hands when removing the bowl from the microwave. Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies: 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar, 1 egg, 3/4 teaspoon vanilla, 2 cups old fashioned oats, 3/4 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Add egg, vanilla, oats, flour, baking soda and salt. Mix well and stir in chocolate chips. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 24 cookies.
