Beat the Big Game Munchies with NatureSweet® SunBursts®

When most of us think of the Big Game we think of get-togethers full of our favorite not-so-healthy snacks.  But, January is also the time of year when dedication to our health and nutrition goals are top of mind.  This year, plan your party and also stay on track with NatureSweet® SunBursts®.  These sweet golden snacking tomatoes are great for an any-time treat and will also impress your guests as part of your game day snacking line up.

Skewers: What could be more simple and nutritious than skewering NatureSweet® SunBursts®?   Serve skewered SunBursts® alongside your favorite veggies and yogurt based dip to for a low calorie and tasty treat.  Or, create a colorful combination by skewering SunBursts®, watermelon, honeydew melon, strawberries and green apples with a sweet yogurt fruit dip.  To amp up the flavor try a simple combination of meats, cheeses, and SunBursts® to create an Italian dish.

Salty Snacks: Put down the chips and try this twist to squash your salty cravings.  Simply wash your SunBursts® and put them back in their container.  Sprinkle with 1/8 teaspoon smoked sea salt and a pinch of fresh ground black pepper.  Close the container and give a couple of gentle shakes to coat the tomatoes.  Serve in your favorite dish – if they’re not eaten before you can get them out of the container!

Ethnic Eats: Create a Mediterranean classic with a delicious salad of NatureSweet® tomatoes, lettuce and cucumber tossed with oil and vinegar and served over a toasted pita round with hummus spread.  Or, if Italian cuisine is more your speed, serve a bold bruschetta appetizer made with NatureSweet® tomatoes.

Game Day Guacamole: No game day is complete without guacamole!  This guacamole recipe is perfected with NatureSweet® SunBursts® tomatoes!

NatureSweet® SunBursts® Guacamole


  • 1/2 cup NatureSweet® SunBursts® tomatoes, quartered
  • 1/2 cup NatureSweet® SunBursts® tomatoes, quartered for garnish
  • 1 tbsp. peeled, chopped fresh ginger
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded if desired, chopped
  • 1/2 clove garlic, minced
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
  • 2 ripe avocados, peeled, seeded and smashed
  • 2 tbsp. fresh lime juice
  • Tortillas chips


  1. Place the ginger, jalapeño and garlic on a cutting board. Using a sharp knife, chop the ingredients together until they are minced and well combined. Sprinkle the mixture with 1/4 tsp. salt. Transfer the mixture to a medium bowl.
  2. Add the chopped cilantro, onions, SunBursts® tomatoes and avocados. Toss gently to combine.
  3. Add the lime juice and 3/4 tsp. salt, and toss again.
  4. Transfer the guacamole to a serving bowl and garnish with the 1/2 cup quartered SunBursts® tomatoes and cilantro sprig. Serve with tortilla chips.
