Black History Month

Jewel-Osco will honor Black History Month this year with its 16th annual “Taste of Black History Month,” with events taking place at various Chicagoland stores. These events will provide a fun, unique shopping experience for the entire family, while honoring Jewel-Osco’s local partners. Patrons are invited to stop by for an afternoon of live music, radio remotes, prizes, raffles, local celebrity appearances and in-store sampling stations from 20+ minority-owned businesses.

The kick-off celebration will be held at Jewel-Osco on Thursday, January 29th from 3 to 7p.m. at 87 W. 87th Street in Chicago, IL. Making a guest appearance at the January 29th festivities will be Chicago Bears cornerback and core special teams player Sherrick McManis. From 3-4pm., McManis will be signing autographs in support of food donations benefitting the Chatham-Avalon Ministries Food Pantry.

“Anybody can recognize the importance of Black History Month, but we want to celebrate and show our commitment to the great achievements made by our local community here in Chicago – not only in February, but year-round,” said Jim Seidler, Sales Manager for Ethnic Goods. “We love local and love being Chicagoland’s local grocer. We look forward to bringing everyone together for these celebrations.”

Following the kick-off event, the Black History Month celebrations will continue with a series of in-store events featuring a variety of delicious eats from the above vendors. The events will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on the following dates and locations:

  • Sat, 2/7  –   1220 S. Ashland, Chicago
