How do I know that my meat is thoroughly cooked?

To ensure that your meat is thoroughly cooked – and safe to eat – follow these tips for preparing ground meat:

  • Use separate utensils (wooden or silicone, not metal) to prepare your meat and vegetables.
  • Cook your ground meat until its internal temperature reads 160ºF.
  • Leave the heat on until the meat turns from pink to juicy brown.
  • Drain off the fat and grease with a colander.
